The complexity in Akarua 'estate' Pinot Noir comes from the vineyard. Each parcel is kept separate for fermentation and ageing and then all the barrels are tasted and assessed to create the final blend.
Akarua Bannockburn Pinot Noir is a velvety, textural expression of all our Bannockburn parcels - from Cairnmuir Road and Felton Terraces. Violets, brambles, dark fruits and spice.
Ten months in French oak, six months in bottle before release.
Akarua has never been in such a strong position as it is today under second generation family leadership of David Skeggs, at the helm of the business and award winning winemaker Andrew Keenleyside heading the winemaking team.
Sir Clifford Skeggs was one of the first to commit to the Central Otago region on a large scale and therefore managed to secure one of the finest elevated North facing sites in Bannockburn and the vines were then planted in 1996.
